modelling US elections is relatively simple because there are really only two parties

Canada has five parties with any reasonable chance of winning ridings, so predicting the outcome is like finding a point in a four-dimensional tetrahedron. In the United States, predicting the outcome is like finding a point on a line segment. There’s way less to worry about, and data visualization is way easier.

Having only two parties makes sense, I guess, because if you believe that school districts should be able to fire grossly negligent kindergarten teachers, then of course you also believe that militias should be able to stock up on semiautomatic weapons at the nearest strip mall. Wait, no. Not quite.
