yeah except the ones that are about oppressing identifiable minorities (gays, racial minorities, immigrants) - there’s a lot of those. i don’t think it indicates engagement, just easier $$ manipulation of the process.

Oh. Hmph. This canvasser was only talking about very leftist-populist ones, which I guess makes sense since we were sitting in a park in San Francisco somewhere near the Castro. That is suboptimal to hear, but I guess it makes sense.

However I’m not at all understanding why these petitions would make it easier for monied interests to manipulate the process, because the total number of legislators is relatively low and they seem to be basically okay with being bought off in most jurisdictions.
